Got this from a Chris M. tweet.
Got this from my friend Curt’s blog, wow. “We’re not doing that anymore!”

Almost a year ago, I formed Gospel Software, LLC with two friends from my church.
It’s been a joy to work with Jordan and Scott over the last year and we’re now to the point of beginning to heavily promote our three web applications to churches. These are two brothers I can learn a lot from – both technically and spiritually. I would be hard pressed to find two better business partners.
I just released a new version of the Gospel Software Directory a few minutes ago. I had wanted a nice online photo directory for our church for quite a while. I finally wrote a simple bare bones version a few years ago and ended up using it all the time, so I thought there might be a market for the product. Over the last year, I wrote a completely new version, and it’s now available for churches to try out and purchase.
This new version is just the beginning. I have a long list of enhancements I’ll begin rolling out over the next few months. The other two products are fantastic.
I had thought about developing a program to manage worship songs back in the mid-eighties, but I was never motivated enough to do anything about it. When Jordan showed me his SongBook application, I was blown away – it did everything I had thought of and much more. And of course it was web based since the internet had been invented since I began thinking of a similar program
Scott’s GuestView program is something I use regularly as I follow up with visitors to our church. It’s so handy and easy to use. I get an email when I need to call a visitor, then I can enter notes about our conversation, and if they’d like information from another leader in the church, I can notify the appropriate people.
I’m excited about seeing what will be happening with Gospel Software, LLC this coming year.
We do have an affiliate program that rewards both the affiliate and any church they refer. Contact me for details if you’re interested.
My friend Curt alerted me to the sad news that Billy Powell has died at age 56. I posted a comment on Curt’s blog, but I thought I’d make a short blog post as well, so forgive the duplication.
In my high school rock band, probably 9 out of 10 songs we played were Lynyrd Skynyrd songs
I still occasionally play Freebird or Sweet Home Alabama on my acoustic.
Shortly after my high school days, I came to understand that I was a sinner and, more importantly, that Jesus Christ had paid the penalty for my sin by his sacrifice on the cross – good news indeed!
Not long after that I was attending a Christian concert and while the warm-up band was playing I noticed that the pianist was very good and sounded familiar. Sure enough, it was Billy Powell and he talked for a bit after the song about becoming a Christian.
Comments from Gary Rossington’s wife Dale in the news article above indicate that Billy continued in his faith until his death. It’s quite sad for Billy’s family that he’s gone, but the fact that he had been reconciled with his Maker before his death makes all the difference in the world.
I encourage you to consider the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here is a good presentation of it:
I am continually mystified why people are surprised by the fact that confiscating guns from law abiding citizens increases crimes involving guns. Simply think about the issue from a criminal’s perspective, would a criminal prefer their victims to be armed or disarmed? Sigh.
What happened to Tony Martin needs to be understood by all naive gun controllers. Or maybe they don’t feel it’s wrong for the criminals to go free while the victim is sent to jail?
I’ve been meaning to split my blog into two separate blogs for quite a while. I finally found the time to setup a new web site and install another copy of wordpress to run our family (although for the time being it’s just me) blog. I know at least one friend who has been waiting for this since May – yeah, I’m talkin’ to you Curt A.
If you’re a friend or family member and aren’t interested in technical articles, then I hope you’ll find this blog more interesting. At some point I expect the other Adkins will be writing some posts, so even if I bore you, there’s still hope.
For the last year and a half I’ve been posting everything to my company blog site which is less than ideal for two reasons:
- Technical readers suffer through silly posts.
- Non-technical readers suffer through techno-babble
So now you can take your pick, or choose both (or neither
):
Lojic Technologies Blog – technical articles
Family Blog – everything else
The pre-existing posts in this blog have been moved over from Lojic Technologies, so if you’ve been reading that blog, there’s nothing new here yet except for this post.
If you don’t currently use RSS, you may want to review “Why You Should Be Using RSS” – it’s a great way to keep up with web sites & blogs without having to continually check the web site to see if anything new has been posted. If the article doesn’t make sense, feel free to contact me, and I’d be glad to help you get rss setup.
